Blue Dart Frog - SOLD
Dendrobates Tinctorius, the blue poison dart frog or blue poison arrow frog or known by its native name, okopipi, is a poison dart frog found in the forests surrounded by the Sipaliwini savanna, which is located in southern Suriname and adjacent far northern Brazil.
Isn't it absolutely beautiful?
This little frog is painted in watercolor on cradled wood. I used watercolor ground, then gold leaf, then more watercolor ground and more watercolor for the background. Then surrounded the 4x4 cradled wood square with apoxie clay reminiscent of indigenous art of ancient times. This little painting almost wasn't. I first painted the frog, then set it aside and almost forgot about it. But then one day I saw it and suddenly I knew what I wanted it to look like. I'm very happy with the result and I hope it finds a precious corner in someone's heart and wall.
